Do I Need A Bachelor's Degree For Cyber Security – This photo shows my two-year-old giving his bachelor’s thesis. (Honestly, he’s my ghostwriter)

I thought for a long time whether to share the story or not. I thought sharing this might make me look weak to potential employers. But in the end, I think the story is who I am. If I can finish the unfinished business of my past, anyone can.

Do I Need A Bachelor's Degree For Cyber Security

I started studying more than ten years ago. I’m not the lucky guy who knew what I wanted to do in life. College was never my desire, but the perfect life my parents wanted for me. Finishing college has no real purpose for me. I felt bad, mostly because it was never my choice. I always tried hard and put all my energy into every job. I learned everything that was relevant to my work and progressed over time. I am happy and proud of the decisions I have made, what I have achieved and the amazing people I have met on my life’s journey. I have also worked for large companies, all without a degree. Now I’m starting all over again.

2020 has been a crazy year for all of us. In October 2019, I left my job as a trainer because I received an offer for the position of Learning and Development Manager. In July 2020, I was terminated from my employment contract for operational reasons. To be honest, I planned my trip a little differently. But this is life. Although I knew I would lose my job, it was unreal when it happened. I was disappointed because we had big projects planned and our team worked very hard to make everything possible. Now this milestone has become history.

It was an amazing experience @Esprit and I’m really grateful. I had the opportunity to work with great people who supported me and helped me develop. First of all, I want to thank my former manager @Jonas Conrads who supported me a lot during my time at Esprit and especially in the last six months of 2020. Until this day he sends me several job offers a week, introduced me to Recruiters and recommended me to several companies. He was so committed to helping me find my next opportunity that I will never forget.

But I also refused the offered position at Esprit, firstly because it was not a job I wanted to do, and secondly, more importantly, because I felt that I had no right to accept a job that I did not want or don’t want . I just don’t like it. Play it safe. Do I have the right to take this opportunity away from someone else? Not! So I declined the offer.

I know there are amazing people out there who have different experiences and skills than I do. This occurred to me when I did not receive feedback on the first applications. Besides experience and skills, there is another thing that could be the reason for the lack of feedback. Companies wanted higher education. Bachelor’s degree in psychology or equivalent preferred. I wanted to sign up for the soccer team, but without shoes. OK, so “equivalent” is what I was getting at now. 🙂 So I decided not to apply until I graduate.

I only have 5 exams left and a thesis. Quite capable. Having two children (21 months and 1 month, in June), knowing that I will lose my job and possibly have no income, knowing that due to covid-19 there is no guarantee of a quiet and safe place to prepare for exams or write A master’s thesis, it still seemed feasible. Thanks to the support of my wife (I love you so much!), who raised two small children by herself several days a week, I was able to reach this milestone. It is not easy. It was exhausting. It was stressful, I hated my decision for days, it took a toll on our relationship, and on top of that, a bachelor’s degree still does not guarantee a job. But we decided to put our energy into my little project. I did not write an application at that time, because I did not want to be rejected.

When I look at my thesis topic, everything makes sense now. Everything is connected: I became very interested in corporate culture and employee development. I believe that we should have a purpose in life and at work and we should live by our values.

So to all the recruits out there, you better get ready because the only thing I’m missing now is my hair.

The Bachelor: 4 Details That Prove Olivia Might Not Be Ben’s Best Match

In 2015, I graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, a minor in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy. That same year, I was accepted to Bond University in Australia to study law.

However, a week before the start of my first semester, I decided not to continue my law studies and instead enrolled in a Masters in Military and Strategic Studies at the University of Calgary. Unfortunately, I needed a certain GPA to be accepted.

One day one of my professors sat me down and advised me to go back to school. He told me that I could get another bachelor’s degree that would only take two years since I already had one.

I will never forget that moment, I completely lost my confidence. The problem was not the idea of going back to school, but I had to think if the previous learning years were blocked?

I can’t accept the idea of completing another bachelor’s degree. The loss of self-confidence blinded me and turned me into a hopeless person who no longer believes in himself. I had an internal battle with myself for several years. The economy tanked and I couldn’t find any meaningful work with my education because all government organizations required years of experience, which I didn’t have.

As I looked for my next step, I wondered if it was ever too late to get another degree.

A study at the University of Arizona shows that a second bachelor’s degree is a great step towards career and personal development. Regardless, many people decide to pursue a master’s degree after completing their bachelor’s degree.

For a while, I regretted the decision not to go to law school, even though it was not my dream career. I thought it was a better option than going back to college a second time to get my bachelor’s degree.

Over the years, I changed jobs and looked for what I wanted to do in order to continue studying. But in the end, I came back to the idea of enrolling in a second bachelor’s degree.

Rachel Doe, an academic advisor for the arts at Mount Royal University, says a high school diploma can be beneficial if there is debt.

“There are second cycle studies that are important because they provide credentials or certificates for practicing a certain profession. A second bachelor’s degree can be useful if you complete it and then determine the main majors,” he says. “In some cases, it’s important to do the latter because it will give you the skills or certification you need.”

“The older students in the class are much more dedicated. Because you have a sense of the future that your younger self does not have,” says Dow.

An article published by Franklin University in Ohio states that often when employers decide to promote an employee, the employee’s education plays a major role in the decision and that “a second bachelor’s degree can make a difference.”
