How Do U Apply For Food Stamps – SNAP enables low-income families to purchase nutritious food through an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card. SNAP recipients spend their benefits to purchase eligible food at approved retail food stores/farmers markets.
OK SNAP Works is a partnership between human services and community agencies to provide employment and training services to you through its Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) employment and training program.

Individuals who receive SNAP benefits, are looking for work and do not receive cash assistance (TANF) may be eligible to participate in free job training. The OK SNAP Works program is currently offered in McIntosh and Tulsa Counties at this time, but people from surrounding counties can participate if it doesn’t pose a barrier to them or their partner.

The preferred application method is to apply online at www.OKDHSLIVE.ORG. However, you can submit a completed Form 08MP001E (Request for Benefits) to your local DHS Human Services Center.

Snap Food Benefits
Due to COVID-19 school closures, families may be eligible for food assistance. These food benefits are called the Pandemic EBT Emergency School Meals Program or P-EBT. Learn more below.
Due to COVID-19, children eligible for free or reduced-price meals at school will receive additional meal benefits. P-EBT is a new and temporary food benefit that helps families buy groceries because schools are closed
Any family with a child in grades K-12 who is eligible for free or reduced-price school meals — including children who attend a school where meals are free
P-EBT is for all students regardless of citizenship or immigration status. The only condition is that a child must be eligible for free or reduced price school meals.

The amount depends on how many children in your household receive free or reduced-price school meals. The maximum benefit is $399 per child. You will receive one P-EBT card for all of your children (example: if you have 3 children, you will receive one card with $1,197).
Families who qualify for free and reduced-price meals after their children are out of school will receive less than $399 for each child. It depends on when your family applies for free or reduced-price meals or basic meals. The P-EBT benefit ($5.70 per day) is based on the number of days school is closed:
No P-EBT is for all eligible children in Washington State, regardless of their status or their parents’ status. You will not be asked about your or your child’s immigration status or citizenship when you apply for P-EBT. P-EBT is not considered under a public charge. (See question #17 for more information)
Families with Basic Food (Food Stamps): Between June 28th and July 7th, P-EBT benefits will be added to the EBT card you already use.

Families who receive free or reduced price school meals: You must complete a simple application by August 31 or before the start of the new school year (whichever is later).
P-EBT benefits are approved if your child’s school meal application information matches the P-EBT application information with DSHS.
You can choose where to mail your P-EBT card on your P-EBT application. If your child(ren) is approved, your P-EBT card will arrive in the mail 3-5 days after approval. Due to application workload, it may take up to 30 working days to process your application.
You must apply by August 31, 2020 or before the start of the 2020-21 school year (whichever is later).

You will receive a P-EBT card in the mail with information on how to use your P-EBT card. (See #6 for more information on how to apply). If you qualify for free and reduced-price school meals after school closes, the approval process may take longer.
If your P-EBT application is denied, you will receive a letter in the mail explaining what happened and if you believe the denial was incorrect.
Follow the instructions that came with your P-EBT card. You must activate your card before you can use it to purchase food. To activate your card, you’ll call and enter the PIN code for the mailing address on your P-EBT application. Then you create your personal PIN number that you use when you make purchases — like a debit card.
Yes. Children can get school meals and receive P-EBT. These are separate programs. P-EBT benefits do not replace school or other organization meals.

18. How can low-income families who do not receive basic food or free or reduced-price school meals receive P-EBT benefits?
Families with school-age children who have recently lost a job or income can complete an application for free or reduced-price school meals through your school district before June 30th and before you apply for P-EBT. You can apply for Basic Food online (www.WashingtonConnection.org) or by phone (877–501–2233 — DSHS Customer Contact Center) before June 30. If you are approved for basic food, you will also receive P-EBT benefits for your school-age children.
If you are eligible for Basic Food or free and reduced-price school meals after school closes and before June 30, 2020, your P-EBT benefits will be pro-rated.
