Due to school closures due to COVID-19, families may be eligible for food assistance. These food benefits are called the Pandemic EBT Emergency School Meals Program, or P-EBT. Learn more below.
Due to COVID-19, children who qualify for free or reduced-price meals at school will receive additional meal benefits. P-EBT is a new and temporary food benefit that helps families buy food because schools have been closed.
Any family with a child in grades K-12 who is eligible for free or reduced-price school meals – including children who attend a school where meals are free
P-EBT is for all students regardless of citizenship or immigration status. The only condition is that the child must be entitled to free or reduced-price school meals.
Pa Food Stamp Recipients Will No Longer Get Second Monthly Payments
The amount depends on how many children in your home receive free or reduced-price school meals. The maximum benefit is $399 per child. You will receive one P-EBT card for all of your children (for example: if you have 3 children, you will receive one card with $1,197).
Families with children who qualified for free and reduced-price meals after the school closed will receive less than $399 per child. It depends on when your family applied for free or reduced meals or basic meals. P-EBT benefits ($5.70 per day) are based on the number of school days that schools were closed:
