Any family with children in grades K-12 is eligible for free or reduced-price school meals – including children who attend school with free meals
P-EBT is for all students regardless of citizenship or immigration status. The only requirement is that the child must be eligible for free or reduced-price school meals.
The amount depends on how many children in your household receive free or reduced-price school meals. The maximum benefit per child is $399. You get one P-EBT card for all your children (for example: if you have 3 children, you get one card with $1,197).
Families with children who qualify for free and reduced-price lunch after their school closes will receive less than $399 per child. It depends on when your family applied for free or reduced-price meals or basic food. P-EBT benefits ($5.70 per day) depend on the number of school days schools are closed:

No. P-EBT is available to all eligible children in Washington state, regardless of their status or the status of their parents. Families on Basic Food (Food Stamps): Between June 28 and July 7, P-EBT benefits will be added to the EBT card you’re already using.
Families with children who receive free or reduced price school meals: You must complete the Common Application by August 31 or before the start of the new school year (whichever is later).
P-EBT benefits are approved if the information on your child’s school meal application matches the child’s information on the P-EBT application with DSHS.

You can choose where to mail your P-EBT card on your P-EBT application. If your child(ren) is approved, your P-EBT card will arrive in the mail 3–5 days after approval. Due to application workload, it may take up to 30 working days to process your application.
You must apply by August 31, 2020 or before the start of the 2020–21 academic year (whichever is later).
You will receive a P-EBT card in the mail with information on how to use your P-EBT card. (See #6 for more information on how to apply). The approval process may take longer if you qualify for free and reduced-price school meals after schools close.
If your P-EBT application is denied, you will receive a letter in the mail explaining what happened and how to appeal if you think the denial was wrong.

Yes. Children can get meals from schools and receive P-EBT. They are separate programs. P-EBT benefits do not replace meals from school or other institutions.
13. What if I apply online and do not receive my P-EBT card or receive a letter denying my application?

P-EBT can buy food at any SNAP-certified store: most grocery stores, farmers markets, some corner stores, or buying groceries online at Amazon and Walmart (depending on your area). P-EBT cannot be used for:

17. What if I have questions about P-EBT and my ability to apply for a green card/lawful permanent residence?
Applying for or using P-EBT does not affect your ability to apply for a green card (lawful permanent residence). Applying for P-EBT here or in the U.S. Does not affect the ability of an outside family member to apply for a green card. P-EBT is not considered under public charge decision. If you have questions about your immigration status and the P-EBT, you should speak with an immigration attorney or DOJ-accredited representative. The Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) is aware of P-EBT and immigration law; They can answer your questions:
18. How can low-income families who do not receive basic food or free or reduced-price school meals receive P-EBT benefits?
