That way, if we have less than 5 minutes to get out of the house, we have already prioritized our Grab list and do not have to spend time thinking about what to take and what to leave behind.

Some people have some different Grab list. One for a 30-minute evacuation, one for a 10-minute evacuation and the other for a 5-minute evacuation. However you decide to set your priorities, be sure to consider the amount of time you may have to load yourself up and leave home.

Make sure you have a bag large enough to fit your entire Grab list (except for large items that you will put directly into your car). And make sure they are always empty and next to your 72-hour package. They can be trash bags if you want! Just make sure you have something ready to use to compile your Grab List.

I chose to label the bags so we know exactly what fits each bag. This is especially useful if you plan to break up gatherings between family members. I realized that I was overwhelmed when I started researching what to include in my child’s 72-hour device. I took everything I learned about putting on a good first aid kit for kids and I will break it all down for you today. My mom was really in the emergency room so I used her as my starting point when I was trying to find something to pack. I also looked at some of the websites that I will list below for more information.

CDC Guidelines- CDC has a great website that has a lot of information about what they advise you to pack in an emergency for your child.

To make things easier for you, I have broken down the items I packed into sections. For my cleanliness, I packed each part separately in a ziploc gallon bag and put it in the kids backpack that way. This will not only dry the items in case of wet weather, but it will also make it easier to organize their bags.
