Financial Education In Forex Trading: Insights From San Antonio Attorneys – When first getting started in the Forex market, there is usually a life cycle that involves diving in, giving up, or taking a step back to do more research and open a demo account to practice. From that point on, new traders may feel more confident opening another live account, experience greater success, and break even or make a profit. This is why it is important to establish a framework for trading in the Forex market, which we will outline below.

Why do we focus on medium-term Forex trading rather than long-term or short-term strategies? To answer this question, let’s take a look at the comparison table below:

Traders who wish to open and close positions within minutes often use greater leverage to take advantage of smaller price movements

Since a lot of leverage is required to profit from such small moves, a lot of capital and/or risk is required, and the spread costs are even more significant

Traders often wish to hold positions for one or more days, often taking advantage of opportunistic technical situations.

Now, you will notice that both short-term and long-term traders require large amounts of capital – the first type requires it to generate sufficient leverage, while the other requires it to cover volatility. Although both types of traders exist in the market, they are composed of high-net-worth individuals, asset managers, or larger institutional investors. For these reasons, retail traders are most likely to be successful using medium-term strategies.

The framework covered in this article will focus on one central concept: trading with odds. To do this, we’ll look at various techniques across multiple time frames to determine whether a particular trade is worth pursuing. But remember, this is not meant to be represented as a mechanical/automated trading system; rather, a discretionary system. You can choose to act on the signals you observe or ignore them. The key is to find situations where all (or most) technical signals point in the same direction. These high-probability trading situations are often profitable.

Four Types Of Forex (fx) Trend Indicators

We will use a free program called MetaTrader to illustrate this trading strategy; however, many other similar programs can be used to produce the same results. There are two basic trading program requirements:

Now we will see how to set up this strategy in the trading program of your choice. We will also define a series of technical indicators and their associated rules. These technical indicators serve as filters for your trades.

If you choose to use more indicators than those shown here, you will create a more reliable system that will generate fewer trading opportunities. Conversely, if you choose fewer indicators than shown here, you will create a less reliable system but will generate more trading opportunities. Here are the settings we will use in this article:

Now you need to combine some more subjective criteria such as:

The key to finding entry points is to look for the number of times all indicators point in the same direction. Signals for each time frame should support the timing and direction of the trade. There are some special bullish and bearish entry points:

It’s also a good idea to set exit points (stop loss and take profit) before entering a trade. These points should be placed at key levels and modified only if your trading premises change (usually due to fundamentals coming into play). You can place these exit points at critical levels, including:

Let’s look at a few examples of individual charts using a combination of indicators to target specific entry and exit points. Again, make sure any trade you intend to make is supported on all three time frames.

In Figure 2 above, we can see multiple indicators pointing in the same direction. There is a bearish head and shoulders pattern, MACD, Fibonacci resistance, and a bearish EMA crossover (5th and 10th). We also see that Fibonacci support provides a good exit point. The profit on this trade was 50 pips and the trade lasted less than two days.

In Figure 3 above, we can see a number of indicators pointing towards long positions. We have bullish engulfing, Fibonacci support, and 100-day moving average support. Once again we see that Fibonacci resistance levels provide excellent exit points. The trade gained nearly 200 points in just a few weeks. Note that we can break this trade into smaller trades on the hourly chart.

Money management is the key to success in any market, especially in the volatile Forex market. Many times, fundamental factors can cause a currency exchange rate to move in one direction, only to have the exchange rate suddenly swing in the other direction in just a few minutes. Therefore, it is important to always utilize stops and only trade when indicators point to good opportunities to limit downside.

Anyone can make money in the Forex market, but it requires patience and following a clear strategy. Therefore, it is very important to trade Forex first with a cautious medium-term strategy so that you can avoid the bigger players and fall prey to this market.
